The Døds Diving League (DDL), the global governing body for the sport of Døds freestyle diving, has announced its partnership with Stiftelsen Organdonasjon, a Norwegian organisation working to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation.

This new partnership aims to spread knowledge about organ donation, particularly towards youth and young adults, and to communicate how important it is to make and share a positive personal decision on organ donation while alive. The alliance will also promote the sport of dødsing as a means to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.

A nationwide survey from 2024 reveals that Norwegians aged 15-29 are less positive toward organ donation than the population as a whole; only 65% of them state that they are positive about organ donation, compared to 79% for the entire population. 27% state that they have not yet taken a stance, while the figure for Norwegians in general is 18%.

"We reach an audience of millions of young people: if we can use that platform to get one more person to say yes to organ donation, that's more important than any medal,” said Erik Ramm Nørregaard, Head of Partnerships at the Døds Diving League. “We are incredibly proud to have Stiftelsen Organdonasjon alongside us!”

"The Døds Diving League has turned a uniquely Norwegian water activity into a global sport known for a unique blend of daring, acrobatics, and showmanship,” said Aleksander Sekowski, Head of Communications at Stiftelsen Organdonasjon. “We see that there is a great need for good information and attitude-shaping work directed to the age group of Dødsing fans, and so we really look forward to throwing ourselves into this.”

The partnership involves mutual exposure across various channels and platforms. Stiftelsen Organdonasjon will also be present at the World Tour stop in Fredrikstad and the World Championship in Arendal, which will take place on August 8th and 22nd, respectively.

About Stiftelsen Organdonasjon

Stiftelsen Organdonasjon is a Norwegian foundation dedicated to ensuring that everyone who needs a transplant can receive an organ. Its work focuses on public information, awareness-raising and practical guidance around organ donation, including the importance of telling one’s next of kin about the decision to become a donor. The foundation’s stated purpose is to improve access to organs for transplantation in Norway and to help ensure that available organs are used.

The foundation also acts as an advocate towards the Norwegian healthcare system and public authorities, seeking to ensure that the necessary resources are available to save lives through organ donation and transplantation. In Norway, around 600 people are on the waiting list for a new life-saving organ at any given time, and one donor can save up to seven lives.
